Fort Lauderdale is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Fort Lauderdale follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

A pleasant 1-mile walk along winding boardwalks through a red mangrove forest nestled in Ft. Lauderdale. We walked in 95 degree heat, but we're covered in shade. No bugs.

Living pretty close by and having visited this place several times through the years, the profound beauty and strength of nature never clicked before; but today I feel profoundly impacted by it. Besides, we met the park director (cleaning the facilities): a quiet but inspiring example of public service. A veteran within the system, and an example of commitment for a better future. She certainly is part of the landscape! There is hope in America.

Really interesting ecosystem. The boardwalk is out in a few places for what looks like a while now but it gives you the opportunity to walk a little more. The land crabs were neat but very shy. I never saw a whole one. I like how they kept the garden clean of weeds. I'm greatful for the people that fought to set this land aside and the citizens that paid the price.

Secret Woods Nature Center was such a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. I absolutely loved it. The trails were relaxing, the scenery was gorgeous, and it felt like the perfect little escape from the busy city. Everything was very well maintained, and I loved being surrounded by so much nature and wildlife. The atmosphere was calm, quiet, and perfect for a peaceful walk or just clearing your mind for a while. The only thing I wish is that they would finish reopening the boardwalk section of the trail where you can see the water and watch the boats pass by, because I can already tell that part would make the experience even more beautiful. If you enjoy nature and relaxing outdoor spots, I definitely recommend visiting. I’ll definitely be coming back again.

This nature preserve was such a peaceful and refreshing place to spend time outdoors. From the moment I arrived, everything felt calm and welcoming. The trail itself was short and easy to walk, which made it perfect for a relaxed visit without feeling rushed or exhausted. Even though it wasn’t long, there was so much to enjoy along the way. I spotted raccoons tucked among the trees and saw a variety of birds moving through the canopy, which made the walk feel lively yet quiet at the same time. One of my favorite parts was the number of butterflies throughout the preserve. They were everywhere, adding color and a gentle sense of movement that made the experience feel almost magical. What really stood out was how friendly everyone was. Other visitors smiled, said hello, and seemed just as happy to be there, which added to the overall positive energy of the place. It felt like a shared appreciation for nature and slowing down for a moment. Overall, this preserve is a lovely escape from everyday noise. It’s ideal for anyone looking for a peaceful walk, light wildlife sightings, and a calm, welcoming atmosphere.
